Interests: I like to make bunting...lots of bunting
Favorite Food: Rhubarb and strawberry pie with custard or fresh cream on top!
What is UCSB First?: UCSB First for me means a way to give back to a university that has provided me with so many opportunities and memories. As a student and a future alumni it is important to get involved with campus affairs and make sure incoming students are able to experience the same great university that we did.
Philanthropy is Important Because... We often take so much for granted, and never take the time to predate what we have and the opportunities given to us. It is important that others are provided these same benefits because in order for our university community and our students to better and grow there must be a strong sense of support for one another.
Ideas For This Year: To have another large event for the Senior Class Gift similar in scale to the ones in the spring and to Let It Snow in November. I want to increase attendance and participation of students and seniors in our mission to create a more concrete belief in giving back at UCSB.

What is UCSB First?: Our goal is to educate the student body about the importance of giving back to our university when we graduate. We aim to sustain the high quality of our university and to build a loyal and involved alumni base.
Philanthropy is Important Because... Everyone should feel responsible for giving back. UCSB has provided you with a world-class education, and in the light of the California budget crises, we need the help of our alumni and friends in sustaining our high status.
Ideas For This Year: We have a lot of ideas this yearwe are especially looking to engage student organizations this year more than we have before. Welcome!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the UCSB First Philanthropy blog! Our goal is to foster a philanthropic culture at UCSB, and raise awareness of the needs of various organizations on campus. Throughout the year, we'll be hosting different events and putting on fundraisers in an effort to get more students involved and to raise money for student scholarships.

Part of philanthropy is simply just getting the word out. Whether it's stopping by our events or posting about us on Facebook, every little bit of outreach helps! We've got a great staff and some awesome events planned, and we're looking forward to a great year.
